According to Electrek
When Tesla first unveiled the Model 3 in 2016, one of the prototypes was “matte black” and it made such a good impression on the public that CEO Elon Musk said that they would “probably” bring it to production, but that didn’t happen as Tesla tried to limit the number of options available in order to focus on production.
Now an aftermarket modification company is bringing back the ‘matte black’ look for Model 3 owners.
The popularity of the Model S and Model X have already spawned several Tesla-only aftermarket accessory and modification companies.
Now those companies expect to leverage their experience working on those cars to create higher volume products for the Model 3.
TSportline, one of those Tesla-only aftermarket car tuners, was among the first to receive the Model 3 and it unveiled its first Model 3 project in November.
They do a lot of chrome delete and all black projects, but now they have added a black matte version, which they are actually calling “satin black” since it appears to have slightly more gloss than the original prototype.
They released several images of the new vehicle:
They also appeared to have added their 20″ Turbine wheel copies, which are one inch bigger than the biggest option available directly from Tesla.
While I’m told that it’s hard to keep it clean, I am a big fan of the matte or satin black look on the Model 3.
Some people at Tesla seem to like it too since they not only used the color for the Model 3 prototype but also a Tesla Semi prototype.
As for the aftermarket aesthetic modifications, I think they are going to be very popular with the Model 3 – not only because the vehicle itself is set to be extremely popular if Tesla achieves its goals, but because they are currently limiting the options.
I think it could lead to people seeking more aftermarket mods in order to differentiate their car from the masses.
