This little milestone isn’t an official figure from Nintendo or anything, but it’s still a cool little comparison to make. The stats come from Kotaku, who sampled data from 18,000 games and 250,000 reviews taken from Metacritic and compared the number of games released by the same point in Switch, Wii U and Wii’s respective lifecycles – namely the 279th day (this would have been the end of December 2017 for Switch) and how well these games were reviewed by critics.
The final results showed Switch has more than three times the games on its platform than Wii U did by the same point, and double those on Wii. Here’s a crazy fact – by its 279th day, Switch had 191 games available. It took Wii U almost 400 more days to reach that figure, proving just how shallow its developmental pool truly was. The data also shows that Switch has far more higher rated games, and accumulated them considerably faster, too. Not bad at all, eh?
