PUBG Corp., the subsidiary of Korean publisher Bluehole and the studio behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Epic Games for copyright violation over its own popular Battle Royale game, Fortnite.

The Korea Times reports that an injunction has been filed with the Seoul Central District Court alleging copyright infringement against Epic Games Korea. The suit, which was allegedly filed in January, was created “to determine whether the latter’s “Fortnite” was copied from the former’s “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.”

PUBG Corp. first suggested it was contemplating action over the similarities between PUBG and Fortnite back in September.

“We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG’s development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game,” Bluehole vice president Chang Han Kim said in a press release. “After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.

“We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we don’t feel that it’s right.”

In Fortnite news, its popular 50v50 mode — or something very much like it — might become a permanent fixture in the game, according to Epic. In PUBG news, Bluehole has recently cracked down on hackers and cheaters.
