‘Fortnite’ Just Appeared On A Nintendo Switch eShop Update

A hacker has discovered code inside a recent Nintendo Switch eShop update that not only references Epic’s insanely popular Fortnite, but even contains a Switch home menu icon for the game.

This follows on the heels of numerous Switch-related Fortnite leaks, including a leaked document outlining Nintendo’s E3 announcements and a listing by the Korean Ratings Board.

At this point, I would be shocked if Nintendo doesn’t proudly exclaim “Available Now” during their E3 Nintendo Direct presentation.

To date, neither Epic Games nor Nintendo has officially announced the existence of Fortnite for Switch, but Nintendo’s console is the only modern system it’s not available on. The big question is whether it will be just the Fortnite Battle Royale mode or the entire package which includes the early access version Save The World campaign.

It’s probably a safe bet that the Switch version will include cross-platform play with iOS, Android, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users. (Though note that XB1 and PS4 users can’t play against each other because Sony still has their players locked in a bubble.)
