After a CAD-based render, a dummy, and a screen protector set, it’s time for a case-maker render of Apple‘s upcoming 6.1″ iPhone with an LCD display. This one will sit at the bottom of the 2018 totem pole when it is released, expected to be priced in line with the current iPhone 8 at launch. This particular case maker has leaked many a design in the past, and they have turned out to be accurate, so we keep our hopes high that this is what Apple will release with eventual delay.

What you see at the front is indeed a notch, and it looks a bit wider than the one on the iPhone X, plus the bezels look slightly thicker. Given the reported issues with adjusting the TrueDepth camera kit on an LCD display, it’s not completely out of the question that the 6.1″ iPhone 2018 may sport slightly cruder front than its more refined (and more expensive) OLED brethren, the iPhone X 2018, and the alleged 6.4″ X Plus.

Looking around at the back, we find a single camera, just as reported previously, but what seems to be a larger lens than what we have now on the iPhone 8, so there might be a brand new sensor and optics in there. A glass rear to facilitate wireless charging rounds up the rendered design suggestions, while a TouchID scanner is nowhere to be seen, reconfirming that Apple will be all Face ID and Memoji from now on. The dimensions of this new iPhone are expected to be 5.79 x 2.81″ (147.12 x 71.52 mm), which makes it slightly taller and wider than the iPhone X, in line with the move from a 5.8″ to a 6.1″ panel.

If Apple indeed manages to pull off an improved single camera over the iPhone 8, the 2018 iPhone, with its larger display and true Memoji power, is shaping up to be a desirable upgrade, and maybe that’s why analysts are predicting a super-cycle for Apple this year, again.
